The ALIA Graphic and Comic Novels Group has announced the titles that have been selected as the Notable Australian Graphic Novels for 2025. Read on to hear from Social Media Coordinator for the Group, Gabby Cundy, on this year's outstanding selections and the strength of Australian graphic storytelling.
Announcing the titles that have been selected as the Notable Australian Graphic Novels for 2025 is a real highlight for us as a group as we love to champion our local creators and their works that they put so much time and effort into. For the second time we reached out to the broader library world to get assistance in judging these titles and we can't thank those enough who were selected and took the time to help in the process. Each category is filled with diverse reads that show how much talent there is making graphic novels in this country.
In our Junior category this year we saw a range of new and old creators who love to spread joy with their weird and wonderful animal companions. These stories are also filled with great themes that those readers in that age bracket and older can connect with and learn from.
The YA releases tend to center around classic superheroes and notable names we've seen consistently on these lists and each year they continually manage to bring us high quality great stories. While in our Adult category this is where we see the vast range of diverse topics that are being used to create memorable stories in both fiction and non fiction.
